The Jersey Women’s Refuge was founded in 1986, with support from Soroptimists International of Jersey, and open its safe house in 1988 to provide a safe place for women and children to go who are victims of domestic abuse.
As the only independent domestic violence charity in Jersey, the Women’s Refuge provides a 24-hour, confidential service, which offers practical and emotional support to women and children suffering from abuse.
The Refuge employs five residential support workers and two outreach support workers who are trained and experienced in supporting women and children who have experienced abuse. Some of our support staff are qualified as Domestic Abuse Prevention Advocates which is a nationally recognised qualification for professionals working with victims of domestic abuse.
